CanvasPlus Progresses and Applications

Author: J. Lima

Abstract

This paper reports the progresses in the CanvasPlus development. The CanvasPlus is a modular, application centered, canvas implementation for Tk. Its first implementation was presented during the Tcl2005 conference. Since then, it has been consolidated and expanded, and it has grown in features and portability. Initially developed under Linux/XWindows, it has now been ported to the win32 platform. Besides these improvements, two real world original CAD like applications were developed and are presented in this paper. Both these application fully exploit the CanvasPlus features. In this paper, the author stresses the CanvasPlus key features and how one can take advantage of them to efficiently develop interactive applications, reusing as much as possible already developed components. Finally, the concepts herein introduced will be put to discussion.
